In-vehicle entertainment systems that stream video or play games or communicate with drivers via artificial intelligence will be powered by technologies developed in partnership between Nvidia and MediaTek. According to the arrangement, which was made public at the Computex technology expo in Taipei, MediaTek will incorporate an Nvidia graphics processing unit chiplet into the systems-on-chip it offers to auto manufacturers for infotainment screens.

For the infotainment systems, MediaTek will also use Nvidia DRIVE OS, DRIVE IX, CUDA, and TensorRT software. While cameras keep an eye on the driver, dashboard screens might highlight the surroundings of the car. As automakers incorporate technologies like gaming, artificial intelligence for voice-activated features, driver monitoring systems, and displays related to autonomous driving, in-vehicle displays and entertainment systems are growing increasingly complicated.

Automakers have also been courted by MediaTek’s main competitor in the smartphone market, Qualcomm. A cooperation to create a new platform for connected vehicles was announced by SalesForce and Qualcomm earlier this year. According to the firms, the agreement with MediaTek gives Nvidia more access to the US$12 billion market for infotainment system-on-chips. The first products were anticipated for late 2025, according to MediaTek Chief Executive Rick Tsai, who spoke at the same event.

Nvidia has centered its efforts on high-end automakers like Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar Land Rover. the chip industry for Android smartphones, where MediaTek has its roots. The business provides its Dimensity Auto technology to mass market, low-cost vehicle lines and excels in Android and mobile connectivity.
